Best European destination 2020

The list of the top 15 best destinations in Europe, according to the European Best Destination, is out.
More than 600,000 travelers have voted for the coolest European destinations. Whether it is for a weekend city break, a cultural trip or beach holiday, her is the list to inspire your European trips.

1. COLMAR, France
The medieval French city in the heart of Alsace wins the title of European best destination 2020. The city is famous for its old town and architectural landmarks. It has the reputation to be the sunniest city in France. It can be visited all year around but summer and autumn are particularly charming for a visit to the wine estate and a walk in the city center.

2. ATHENS, Greece
To win the second spot on the Podium is Athens, the dynamic Greek city where ancient times and modernity mix. The Acropolis and the Pantheon do not need any introduction. But Athens is more than that and it is constantly evolving to attract tourist and youngsters with museums, food and nightlife. 
Ah. For the beach lovers. Don’t forget the blue flagged beaches on the Southern coast.

3. TBILISI, Georgia
The Capital of Georgia is on the rise in 2020. Tbilisi is a pulsing and picturesque town and to find it in third position may surprise, but it should not if you knew the trend of the city in recent years. 
A melting pot of architectural styles and cultures it mixes ancient times with modernity. It is respectful of the past with a clear aim to the future. Don’t forget to climb the top of Tbilisi and admire the beautiful landscape from the Kartlis Deda statue. The Narikala Fortress, the Peace Bridge, Rustaveli Avenue, the thermal baths.

4. VIENNA, Austria
To see Vienna in a traveler’s favorite list is no surprise. As one the city with the highest quality of life, it is the ideal destination for families and young people with trendy restaurants and bars. From ballets to bar crawling, from museums to the royal palaces, without forgetting the traditional cuisine and sweets, Vienna has a lot to offer in every season of the year.
5. CASCAIS, Portugal
Cascais is one of the most beautiful costal destinations in Europe. As part of the Lisbon district it has a unique position on the Portuguese coast. With sea and nature but also antique palaces, it offers a variety of attractions. It is also very close to other beautiful locations such as Sintra, Ericeira (World Surfing Reserve) and Mafra.  Must sees are Condes de Castro Guimarães, Casa das Histórias-Paula Rego and Santa Marta Lighthouse. 6. SIBIU, Romania
In sixth place, we have Sibiu (unexpectedly, I have to confess), sited in the North-western part of the Transylvania region. Divided by the river Cibin the pulsing soul of the city is the upper city, a medieval gem. Don’t miss the picturesque streets around Piata Mare (a.k.a. Big Square), Strada Nicolae BAlcescu, climb the Council Tower, and walk around the Piata Mica. Sibiu is also the right destination for outdoor activates fan, hikers and photographers.

7. NAMUR, Belgium
It is a stylish and charming city in the center of Wallonia region. The heart of the city is the old town with the citadel and the Eglise St Loup. Namur is not just sightseeing but also offers numerous alternatives for outdoor sports lovers with paddling and hiking. Don’t forget to try the Walloon cuisine or one of the city famous Pubs after having had a cruise on the Meuse.

8. RIJEKA, Croatia
If you have already visited the European major cities, look no further. This is you next destination. Rijeka unites beach and city, culture and nature. Enjoy Korzo, the city promenade, while sipping a coffee and get lost in the colorful central market. This part of the Croatian cost has 11 beaches, two with blue flag Ploce and Kostanj. According to European Best Destinations “Rijeka is most certainly the big tourism trend for 2020 and the coming years”.

9. PARIS, France
This City needs no introduction or summaries. It is the European Capital with capital “C”. If you have never visited it, do it. It has a unique atmosphere made with romance, culture, music, gastronomy and tradition.

10. BYGDOSZCZ, Poland
This city may sound new to many of you. But it is a real gem among the trendiest destinations in 2020. Sited on the Brda and Vistula rivers. Take a walk along the Canals and the city’s most picturesque spot, Mill Island. Trendy bars, traditional restaurants and hotel with affordable prices complete the experience.
